Located on both banks of the Mississippi River, Minneapolis salutes the state's love of the outdoors with numerous lakes, wetlands, creeks, and waterfalls--many connected to one another by a national scenic byway great for sightseeing.
The Museum of Russian Art and Weisman Art Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Northfield Historical Society and Lakewood Cemetery will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from Minneapolis with a short trip to Red Wing Shoes in Red Wing, about 1h 05 min away. The adventure continues: admire the landmark architecture of Basilica of St. Mary, look for gifts at Candyland, stroll the grounds of Fort Snelling National Cemetery, and see the interesting displays at Foshay Tower.
