Do some cultural sightseeing at Loretto Chapel and Canyon Road. Take a break from the city and head to Valles Caldera National Preserve and Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. Get out of town with these interesting Santa Fe side-trips: Los Alamos (Bradbury Science Museum & Los Alamos Nature Center). Charlotte to Santa Fe is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Charlotte to Santa Fe. Traveling from Charlotte in July, plan for a bit cooler nights in Santa Fe, with lows around 60°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Wed) so you can go by car to Taos.

Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Santa Fe in July; daily highs in Taos reach 83°F and lows reach 52°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Albuquerque.

Drive from Taos to Albuquerque in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. In July, Albuquerque is a bit warmer than Taos - with highs of 91°F and lows of 67°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 20th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Alamogordo.
