Step out of Honolulu to go to Kailua and see Kailua Beach Park, which is approximately 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Waikiki Beach, identify plant and animal life at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, step aboard Battleship Missouri Memorial, and steep yourself in history at Iolani Palace.

Salt Lake City to Honolulu is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 3 hours traveling from Salt Lake City to Honolulu. Traveling from Salt Lake City in May, things will get a bit warmer in Honolulu: highs are around 84°F and lows about 71°F. You'll have a few hours on the 6th (Wed) to wrap things up before traveling to Kihei.

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.

Bring the kids along to Maui Ocean Center and Lahaina Banyan Court. Get out of town with these interesting Kihei side-trips: Kapalua Beach (in Kapalua), Lahaina (Ka'anapali Beach, Lahaina Jodo Mission, & more) and Haleakala Crater (in Haleakala National Park). Fly from Honolulu to Kihei in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or do a combination of flight and car. In May in Kihei, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 68°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
