Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Vivac Winery and Black Mesa Winery. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Black Mesa Winery and Blumenschein Home & Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Philmont Scout Ranch (in Cimarron) and Eagle Nest (Palisades Sill Official Scenic Historic Marker & Cimarron Canyon State Park). There's lots more to do: relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, examine the collection at Mabel Dodge Luhan Historic House, make a trip to Taos Drums, and view the masterpieces at Enchanted Circle Pottery.
