Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Tue): take in the dramatic scenery at Water Wall, then explore the world behind art at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and then examine the collection at Space Center Houston. On your second day here, get to know the fascinating history of The Seawall, appreciate the extensive heritage of The Strand, then engage your brain at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, and finally engage your brain at Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Orlando to Houston is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone difference when traveling from Orlando to Houston is minus 1 hour. Traveling from Orlando in December, things will get a bit cooler in Houston: highs are around 66°F and lows about 50°F. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Thu) to wrap things up before traveling to South Padre Island.
