Step out of Washington DC with an excursion to Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly--about 44 minutes away. North Conway combines colonial New England architecture with outlet shops selling goods from some of the world's most recognizable brands, all set amid the scenery of the White Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Sun): stop by Zeb's General Store, then take in the dramatic scenery at Diana's Baths, and then take a peaceful walk through White Mountain National Forest. Here are some ideas for day two: cruise along Mt Washington Auto Rd and then explore and take pictures at Kancamagus Highway.
