The City of Lights and Flowers

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and Indian Valley Mine & Gifts. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Friends of Eagle River Nature and Chugach State Park. Go for a jaunt from Anchorage to Palmer to see Independence Mine State Historical Park about 1h 35 min away. The adventure continues: get outside with Turnagain Arm, explore the striking landscape at Beluga Point, learn more about the world around you at Alaska Museum of Science & Nature, and get interesting insight from Alaska ATV Adventures.
