Austin — 12 nights

Live Music Capital of the World

Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Mission San Jose and The Alamo. LBJ Presidential Library and Wine Tours & Tastings are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Austin side-trips: San Antonio (Natural Bridge Caverns, Brackenridge Park, &more), Gruene Historic District (in New Braunfels) and Fredericksburg (Grape Creek Vineyards, National Museum of the Pacific War, &more). There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail, admire the striking features of The Driskill, get a sense of history and politics at Texas State Capitol, and sample some tasty brews at Bike and Brew ATX.
