Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Change things up with a short trip to South Park City Museum in Fairplay (about 1h 35 min away). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area, appreciate the history behind The John Denver Sanctuary, stop by Snowmass Sports, and get great views at Independence Pass.
