As the closest town to a national park known for its archeological dwellings, Cortez sits along ancient trails that native Puebloan tribes have used for millennia.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Mon): explore the ancient world of Ute Mountain Tribal Park, get engrossed in the history at Cortez Cultural Center, and then see the interesting displays at Rio Grande Southern Railroad Museum.. On the 1st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Park Point, then admire all the interesting features of Ruins Road, and then explore the ancient world of Cliff Palace.

Cedar Rapids to Cortez is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST), which is usually a -1 hour difference.
