Key West — 1 night

Conch Republic

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
On the 2nd (Sun), take a memorable drive along The Overseas Highway and then cast your line with a fishing tour. Keep things going the next day: steep yourself in history at Truman Little White House, then admire the majestic nature at Fort Zachary Taylor, and then relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Newark to Key West is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Newark in July, Key West is a bit warmer at night with lows of 81°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) so you can go by car to Marathon.

Marathon — 3 nights

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Get outdoors at Dolphin Research Center and Bahia Honda State Park. There's still lots to do: take in the views from Seven Mile Bridge, look for all kinds of wild species at The Turtle Hospital, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, and kick back and relax at Sombrero Beach.

Traveling by car from Key West to Marathon takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 92°F, and evening lows to 81°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) so you can drive to Islamorada.

Kick off your visit on the 8th (Sat): identify plant and animal life at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, then immerse yourself in nature at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and then get close to the beloved marine mammals with a swim-with-the-dolphins experience. Key Largo is very close to Islamorada. Plan for slightly colder nights when traveling from Islamorada in July since evenings lows in Key Largo dip to 76°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) early enough to catch the flight to Orange Beach.

Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Tue) early enough to drive to Panama City Beach.
