Fewer than 400 people call Keystone home year-round, but the population explodes in summer when crowds flock to nearby Mount Rushmore.
Take a break from the city and head to Legion Lake and Windcross Conservancy. Discover out-of-the-way places like Big Thunder Gold Mine and The Museum @ Black Hills Institute. Explore Keystone's surroundings by going to Custer (Custer State Park & Sylvan Lake) and Bicycle Sculpture (in Pringle). Byron Center to Keystone is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Byron Center to Keystone. Traveling from Byron Center in June, expect Keystone to be a bit cooler, temps between 73°F and 48°F.
