The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park draws visitors with its rugged landscape of ocean shoreline, low-slung granite mountains, dense woodlands, and pristine lakes.
Step out of the city life by going to Sieur de Monts Spring and Jordan Cliffs Trail. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Acadia's Birds and Day Mountain. Next up on the itinerary: stroll through The Bowl Trail, trek along Indian Point Blagden Preserve, admire the natural beauty at Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Pemetic Mountain.

Atlanta to Acadia National Park is an approximately 8- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and car; or drive. Traveling from Atlanta in April, expect Acadia National Park to be much colder, temps between 49°F and 33°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to drive to Camden.

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Wells Reserve at Laudholm and Back Cove Trail. Take a break from the city and head to Merriland Farms Golf Course and Eastern Prom Trail. Take a break from Portland with a short trip to Point of Graves in Portsmouth, about 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Maine Jewish Museum, sample the fine beverages at Maine Craft Distilling, sample the tasty concoctions at Bissell Brothers Brewing Company, and do a tasting at Maine Mead Works.
