Hana — 3 nights

Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Hana Coast Gallery and Laura Mango. Relax by the water at Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach and Honokalani Black Sand Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Hana: Charles Lindbergh's Grave (in Kipahulu) and Haleakala Crater (in Haleakala National Park). The adventure continues: explore by horseback at Pipiwai Trail, take in nature's colorful creations at Kahanu Garden, get engrossed in the history at Hana Cultural Center, and pause for some photo ops at Fagan's Cross.

Plan for warmer temperatures traveling from Fairbanks in April, with highs in Hana at 85°F and lows at 68°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Kihei.

Kihei — 9 nights

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.
You'll get in some beach time at Ho'okipa Beach Park and Makena Beach. Museum-lovers will get to explore Baldwin Home Museum and Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kihei: D.T. Fleming Park (in Kapalua) and Lahaina (Kapalua Coastal Trail, Old Lahaina Courthouse, &more). There's lots more to do: work some fitness into your day at Wailea Beach Path, walk around Kamaole Beach Park I, stroll through Big Beach, and enjoy the sand and surf at Keawakapu Beach.

You can drive from Hana to Kihei in 2.5 hours. In April, daytime highs in Kihei are 85°F, while nighttime lows are 68°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sat) early enough to fly back home.
