Lahaina

— 7 nights

Crown Jewel of Maui

Once the booming capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, the tropical paradise of Lahaina still remains one of Maui's top vacation attractions, providing both culture and recreation.
You'll get in some beach time at Ka'anapali Beach and Kapalua Beach. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Ho'okipa Beach Park and Parasailing & Paragliding. Explore Lahaina's surroundings by going to Kihei (Kamaole Beach Park III & Kamaole Beach Park II), Wailea (Ulua Beach, Makena Beach, &more) and Scuba & Snorkeling (in Wailuku). There's much more to do: paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, hike along Kapalua Coastal Trail, take in the dramatic natural features at Nakalele Blowhole, and meet the residents at Maui Ocean Center.

Plan my trip to Lahaina with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

Tallahassee to Lahaina is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time is minus 5 hours. When traveling from Tallahassee in August, plan for a bit cooler days in Lahaina, with highs around 86°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 74°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Wed) so you can go by car to Hana.

Hana

— 4 nights
Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.
Relax by the water at Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach and Honokalani Black Sand Beach. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Pipiwai Trail and Zipline. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hana: Haleakala Crater (in Haleakala National Park), Kipahulu (Palapala Ho'omau Church & Charles Lindbergh's Grave) and Huialoha Church (in Kaupo). Spend the 18th (Sun) exploring the striking scenery along Hana Highway - Road to Hana. There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Hanawi Falls, explore the different monuments and memorials at Wananalua Congregational Church, and view the masterpieces at Hana Coast Gallery.

For other places to visit, traveler tips, more things to do, and tourist information, refer to the Hana journey planning website.

The Valley Isle
The second largest of the eight major Hawaiian Islands, Maui features a rugged landscape ranging from high mountain peaks to deep valleys. Half of Maui lies within 8 km (5 mi) of the coastline, and most tourists come for the sandy beaches, many of them backed by fashionable resorts offering every modern convenience. Diversity of tourist attractions is Maui's major allure, with each of the island's shores offering a different set of vacation ideas. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel with sea turtles, or hike over the otherworldly landscapes of the world's biggest dormant volcano. A foodie paradise, the island also features dozens of small farms and gourmet restaurants.
