Billings is the largest city in the state of Montana, and is the principal city of the Billings Metropolitan Area with a population of 166,855.Billings is located in the south-eastern portion of the state and is the seat of Yellowstone County, which had a 2015 population of 157,048. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Little Bighorn Battlefield and Pictograph Cave State Park. Visiting Horseback Riding Tours and Silver Run Trails will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Billings: Custer Battlefield Museum (in Garryowen), Pompeys Pillar National Monument (in Pompeys Pillar) and Custer Battlefield Trading Post & Cafe (in Crow Agency). And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Fishtail General Store, appreciate the history behind Pompeys Pillar, and look for gifts at Babcock & Miles.

The town of West Yellowstone has served as a gateway to Yellowstone National Park since the early 1900s.
Take a break from the city and head to Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and Earthquake Lake. Venture out of the city with trips to Gardiner (River Rafting & Tubing & Horseback Riding Tours). Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Billings in June: high temperatures in West Yellowstone hover around 69°F and lows are around 35°F. On the 25th (Tue), identify plant and animal life at Giant Springs State Park, appreciate the extensive heritage of Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, then pause for some serene contemplation at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at St. Ann Cathedral.
