For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Beach at Daytona Beach and Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. Get some cultural insight at Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum and Gallery of Local Art. Explore Orlando's surroundings by going to Oakland Nature Preserve (in Oakland), Silver Springs State Park (in Silver Springs) and Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area (in Leesburg). There's much more to do: discover the magic at World of Disney, admire the masterpieces at Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts, stroll around Lake Eola Park, and look for gifts at The Posh Pineapple.
