A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.

You can drive from San Juan to Rincon in 2 hours. Other options are to fly; or do a combination of shuttle and car. In July, daily temperatures in Rincon can reach 90°F, while at night they dip to 80°F. You will leave for Ponce on the 9th (Sat).

Isla de Vieques — 5 nights

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Step out of the city life by going to La Plata Beach and Sea Glass Beach. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Playa Monte Santo and La Gran Ceiba de Vieques. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at El Gallito Beach, relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, expand your understanding of the military at Camp Garcia, and admire the striking features of Puerto Ferro Lighthouse.

Culebra — 1 night

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
