Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Wolf Creek Ski Resort and Purgatory Resort. There's lots more to do: hit the slopes at Durango Snowbike Experience, shop like a local with Scenic Aperture Gallery, whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and enjoy some diversion at Durango Community Recreation Center.
