Known primarily for its steel-related heritage and 446 bridges, Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River.
On the 10th (Tue), steep yourself in history at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Heinz Memorial Chapel, then pause for some serene contemplation at Saint Anthony Chapel, and finally take in the awesome beauty at Mount Washington.

Let the collections at Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford capture your imagination. Do some cultural sightseeing at Detroit Institute of Arts and Motown Museum. Explore Detroit's surroundings by going to Great Lakes National Cemetery (in Holly), Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad (in Flint) and Toledo (Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral & National Museum of the Great Lakes). The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sat): hit the slopes at Cannonsburg Ski & Ride Area, then trek along Cascade Peace Park, and then see the interesting displays at Gilmore Car Museum. Keep things going the next day: steep yourself in history at USS LST 393, steep yourself in history at Hackley and Hume Historic Site, then see the interesting displays at Gerald R. Ford Museum, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral of Saint Andrew.
