Traveling from Monterey in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Los Angeles: highs are around 69°F and lows about 49°F. On the 3rd (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to San Diego.

Traveling from San Diego in January, things will get a bit cooler in Las Vegas: highs are around 59°F and lows about 40°F. You will have some time to spend on the 8th (Wed) before leaving for home.
