Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
Change things up with a short trip to Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos (about 1h 20 min away). Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
On the 3rd (Tue), pause for some serene contemplation at Trinity United Methodist Church, then get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo, and then relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.
