Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Bruton Parish Episcopal Church and Historic Christ Church will appeal to history buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Hughlett Point Natural Area and Virginia Capital Trail. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Williamsburg: Blandford Church and Cemetery (in Petersburg) and Henricus Historical Park (in Chester). There's lots more to do: trek along Freedom Park, steep yourself in history at George Wythe House, get to know the fascinating history of Colonial National Historical Park, and immerse yourself in nature at York River State Park.

Miami to Williamsburg is an approximately 6-hour combination of tram, flight, and bus. You can also do a combination of tram, flight, and train; or drive. Traveling from Miami in March, things will get much colder in Williamsburg: highs are around 60°F and lows about 38°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) so you can go by car to Charlottesville.

Situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville is perhaps best known as the home of three of the United States' founding fathers, including Thomas Jefferson.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): hike along Saunders-Monticello Trail, then contemplate the long history of Woodrow Wilson Birthplace, and then contemplate the long history of The Glass Palette - Interactive Glass Art Studio. On the 13th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: experience rural life at The Market at Grelen and then admire the majestic nature at James River State Park.
