Ketchikan — 3 nights

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
Take a break from the city and head to Deer Mountain Trail and Ketchikan Rainbird Trail. Discover out-of-the-way places like Tongass Historical Museum and Settlers Cove State Recreational Site. There's lots more to do: get a dose of the wild on Northern Tours of Alaska, enjoy the sand and surf at Rotary Beach, examine the collection at Dolly's House Museum, and take in the exciting artwork at The Soho Coho.

Denver to Ketchikan is an approximately 8-hour combination of flight and ferry. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus, train, and ferry. The time zone difference when traveling from Denver to Ketchikan is minus 2 hours. When traveling from Denver in June, plan for cooler days in Ketchikan, with highs around 62°F, while nights are a bit cooler with lows around 50°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Sun) early enough to travel to Juneau.

Juneau — 3 nights

Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.

You can do a combination of ferry and flight from Ketchikan to Juneau in 3 hours. Another option is to ride a ferry. Expect a daytime high around 63°F in June, and nighttime lows around 48°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Wed) to allow enough time to fly to Palmer.

Palmer — 3 nights

Palmer is the borough seat of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wasilla Creek Wetlands Trail and Wasilla Museum & Visitor Center. Get outdoors at Government Peak Recreation Area and Lazy Mountain. Take a break from Palmer with a short trip to iFishAlaska Guide Service in Wasilla, about 30 minutes away. Anchorage — 3 nights

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Wells Fargo Museum and Imaginarium Discovery Center will appeal to museum buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Seward Hwy and MotoQuest. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Alaska Botanical Garden, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Hood Harbor, see the interesting displays at Alaska Jewish Museum, and stroll around Lake Spenard.
