Bethesda — 13 nights

Bethesda is a census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. Change things up with these side-trips from Bethesda: Mister Ed's Elephant Museum (in Orrtanna), Gettysburg (Sachs Covered Bridge, Horseback Riding Tours, &more) and Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (in Harpers Ferry). Spend the 15th (Mon) exploring nature at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, get a taste of life in the country at Rocking S Ranch, find something for the whole family at The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring, and take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.
