Get outdoors at State Street Underpass and Carpenteria Bluffs Nature Preserve. Relax by the water at Carpinteria State Beach and Oxnard Beach Park. Get out of town with these interesting Santa Barbara side-trips: Solvang (Vinhus, Shoestring Winery, &more) and Sunstone Winery (in Santa Ynez). Santa Maria

Santa Maria is a city near the Southern California coast in Santa Barbara County. Kick off your visit on the 13th (Sat): stroll through Avila Main Beach, stroll through Eldwaylen Ocean Park, and then get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour. Cambria is a seaside village in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along California State Route 1 (Highway 1). Get outdoors at Moonstone Beach and William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach. Hearst Castle and The Old Santa Rosa Creek Chapel will appeal to history buffs. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Piedras Blancas, visit a coastal fixture at Piedras Blancas Light Station, look for all kinds of wild species at Friends of the Elephant Seal Visitor Center and Gift Shop, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.

Take a break from Monterey with a short trip to To Honor Surfing Monument in Santa Cruz, about 50 minutes away.
