Ouray is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Ouray County, Colorado, United States. Step off the beaten path and head to Cascade Falls Park and Yankee Boy Basin. Get some cultural insight at Ouray Alchemist Museum and Yankee Girl Mine. Change things up with these side-trips from Ouray: Museum of the Mountain West (in Montrose) and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (in Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park). Traveling from Estes Park in June, expect Ouray to be a bit cooler, temps between 72°F and 49°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Durango.

Durango

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Head to Toh-Atin Gallery and Earthen Vessel Galleryfor some retail therapy. Get some cultural insight at Durango Fish Hatchery and Wildlife Museum and Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum. There's still lots to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at San Juan National Forest, fly down the slopes at Purgatory Resort, trek along Animas River Trail, and take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback.

Getting from Ouray to Durango by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a shuttle. Traveling from Ouray in June, you will find days in Durango are a bit warmer (85°F), and nights are little chillier (44°F). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Mon) early enough to drive to Mesa Verde National Park.
