Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Thu): learn about winemaking at Four Leaves Winery and then examine the collection at Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum.

Albuquerque to Durango is an approximately 4-hour car ride. You can also fly; or do a combination of flight and shuttle. Traveling from Albuquerque in November, things will get little chillier in Durango: highs are around 52°F and lows about 23°F.
