The Capital of the South

Georgia’s largest city and capital, Atlanta is a thriving metropolis anchored by its southern roots.
Step off the beaten path and head to Centennial Olympic Park and Atlanta History Center. Get a sense of the local culture at Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and College Football Hall of Fame. There's much more to do: get advice or help at Jimmy Carter Library & Museum, have fun and explore at Interact Art Museum, examine the collection at High Museum of Art, and find something for the whole family at SKYVIEW Atlanta.

Gulfport to Atlanta is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of taxi and bus. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Eastern Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Gulfport in March, things will get little chillier in Atlanta: highs are around 65°F and lows about 45°F. Georgia's oldest city, Savannah displays its colonial history proudly on every corner.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Fort Pulaski National Monument and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Tybee Island Lighthouse Museum and Mickve Israel Temple. There's lots more to do: explore the galleries of Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters, stroll the grounds of Colonial Park Cemetery, steep yourself in history at Juliette Gordon Low's Birthplace, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

Hilton Head

A Hilton Head vacation may be heaven for a golfer, but the area also offers all kinds of other options for sports fans.
Step out of the city life by going to Hilton Head Island Bike Trails and Heron Point by Pete Dye at Sea Pines Resort. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Spas and Sea Pines Forest Preserve. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, stroll through Coligny Beach, take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and make a trip to Fort Mitchel.

You can drive from Savannah to Hilton Head in an hour. Another option is to take a bus. In March, plan for daily highs up to 65°F, and evening lows to 50°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to St. Augustine.

You can drive from Hilton Head to St. Augustine in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi, train, and bus; or fly. When traveling from Hilton Head in March, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in St. Augustine: temperatures range from 71°F by day to 54°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Mon) early enough to travel to Key West.

Key West

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Explore hidden gems such as Dolphin Research Center and Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum. You'll explore and learn at U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum and Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum. Step out of Key West with an excursion to The Turtle Hospital in Marathon--about 1h 5 min away. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from St. Augustine in March, with highs in Key West at 79°F and lows at 69°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Thu) to allow time to travel back home.
