Those who named Volcano opted for simplicity in choosing a title, taking the nearby fire-spewing Kilauea as a source of inspiration.
Step out of the city life by going to Kīlauea and Kilauea Iki Trailhead. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Volcano Art Center and Volcano Garden Arts. Step out of Volcano with an excursion to Punalu‘U Beach in Pahala--about 38 minutes away. There's more to do: take in the dramatic natural features at Thurston Lava Tube (Nahuku) and see the interesting displays at Jagger Museum.
