Lexington — 13 nights

Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Kentucky Horse Park and Mary Todd Lincoln House. You'll explore and learn at Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate and Aviation Museum of Kentucky. Explore Lexington's surroundings by going to Frankfort (Castle & Key Distillery, Buffalo Trace Distillery, &more), Harrodsburg (Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Old Fort Harrod State Park, &more) and Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea (in Berea). The adventure continues: look for all kinds of wild species at Unique Horse Farm Tours, appreciate the extensive heritage of Waveland State Historic Site, relax in the rural setting at Mill Ridge Farm, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Detroit to Lexington is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Detroit, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Lexington, ranging from highs of 81°F to lows of 59°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
