Memphis — 13 nights

Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll

The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
Escape the urban bustle at Natchez Trace Pkwy and Pinson Mounds State Park. Do some cultural sightseeing at Graceland and Beale Street. Explore Memphis' surroundings by going to Tanglefoot Trail (in New Albany), Oxford (Bailey Woods Trail & Southside Gallery) and Hampson Archeological Museum State Park (in Wilson). There's much more to do: take an in-depth tour of National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel, contemplate the long history of Sun Studio, contemplate the waterfront views at Grenada Lake, and identify plant and animal life at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center.
