Nestled in Missouri's beautiful Ozark Mountains lies one of the country's most attractive vacation towns for year-round family entertainment.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Table Rock Lake and Moonshine Beach. Get in touch with nature at Zipline and Anglers Advantage. Fewer than 400 people call Keystone home year-round, but the population explodes in summer when crowds flock to nearby Mount Rushmore.
On the 23rd (Wed), contemplate the waterfront views at Center Lake, then immerse yourself in nature at Custer State Park, then contemplate the waterfront views at Legion Lake, and finally admire all the interesting features of Iron Mountain Road. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: explore the striking landscape of Mount Rushmore National Memorial, then take some stellar pictures from Mount Coolidge, then contemplate the waterfront views at Sylvan Lake, and finally take in the dramatic natural features at Needles Eye Tunnel.

Although Badlands National Park's name might not be the most inviting, its landscape of pinnacles, eroded buttes, spires, and an expansive, pristine mixed-grass prairie remain enticing.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Loop Road and Yellow Mounds Overlook. Escape the urban bustle at Badlands Wall and Big Badlands Overlook. Step out of Badlands National Park to go to Interior and see Hurley Butte Horseback Riding, which is approximately 40 minutes away. There's still lots to do: trek along Saddle Pass Trail, explore the striking landscape of Conata Basin Overlook, stop by Badlands Ranch Store, and get great views at Prairie Wind Overlook.

Getting from Keystone to Badlands National Park by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi and bus. In June, Badlands National Park is a bit warmer than Keystone - with highs of 83°F and lows of 54°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Sun) early enough to catch the flight to Chicago.
