Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island — 3 nights

The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park draws visitors with its rugged landscape of ocean shoreline, low-slung granite mountains, dense woodlands, and pristine lakes.
Escape the urban bustle at Sand Beach and Gorham Mountain Trail. Discover out-of-the-way places like Champlain Mountain & Beehive Loop Trail and Carriage Roads. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from New York City in August, with highs in Acadia National Park at 75°F and lows at 57°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Wed) to allow time to drive to Rockland.

Rockland is a city in Knox County, Maine, in the United States.
