You can fly from New York City to Portland in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from New York City in August, with highs in Portland at 30°C and lows at 17°C. On the 11th (Fri), you're off to Portsmouth.

Museum-lovers will appreciate Local Colors and North Shore Arts Association. Visiting Dolphin & Whale Watching and Jenness State Beach will get you outdoors. Change things up with a short trip to Niles Beach in Gloucester (about 58 minutes away).
