A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Take a break from the city and head to Multnomah Falls and Opal Creek Wilderness Area. Attractions like Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum and International Rose Test Garden make great kid-friendly stops. Change things up with a short trip to Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Washougal (about 32 minutes away).
