Raleigh

— 13 nights

City of Oaks

For those not from the South, Raleigh might be one of the region's better-kept travel secrets.
Kids will appreciate attractions like JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University and Raleigh Little Theatre Rose Garden. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Historic Yates Mill County Park and Historic Oakwood Cemetery. Get out of town with these interesting Raleigh side-trips: Chapel Hill (Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, The Carolina Basketball Museum, &more), Children's Museum of Alamance County (in Graham) and Burlington (Burlington Parks & Recreation & Conservators Center). There's much more to do: hike along Neuse River Trail, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Lynn, deepen your understanding at North Carolina State University, and browse the eclectic array of goods at State Farmers Market.

To find photos, more things to do, ratings, and more tourist information, go to the Raleigh online attractions planner.

In June in Raleigh, expect temperatures between 88°F during the day and 66°F at night.
