San Antonio

— 13 nights

The Alamo City

As the state’s second largest city, San Antonio embodies Texas’ rich cultural heritage while maintaining the Old West charm of an oil town.
Get out of town with these interesting San Antonio side-trips: Austin (Congress Avenue Bridge / Austin Bats, Texas State Capitol, &more), Fredericksburg (National Museum of the Pacific War, Grape Creek Vineyards on Main, &more) and Garrison Brothers Distillery (in Hye). There's lots more to do: find something for the whole family at SeaWorld, wander the streets of Southtown, see a show at Japanese Tea Gardens, and get to know the fascinating history of La Villita Historic Arts Village.

To find other places to visit, traveler tips, photos, and tourist information, you can read our San Antonio trip planner.

Chicago to San Antonio is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Chicago in June: high temperatures in San Antonio hover around 93°F and lows are around 74°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
