Step out of Las Vegas to go to Boulder City and see Hoover Dam, which is approximately 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, admire the local landmark of Fountains of Bellagio, take in nature's colorful creations at Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, and get a taste of the local shopping with The Strip.

Raleigh to Las Vegas is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. The time zone difference when traveling from Raleigh to Las Vegas is minus 3 hours. A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Change things up with these side-trips from Portland: Cannon Beach (in Cannon Beach) and Multnomah Falls (in Bridal Veil).
