The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Kids will enjoy National Air and Space Museum and Smithsonian Institution Building. Do some cultural sightseeing at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Go for a jaunt from Washington DC to Vienna to see Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts about 30 minutes away. The adventure continues: get engrossed in the history at National Museum of African American History and Culture, contemplate the long history of Arlington House - The Robert E. Lee Memorial, admire the masterpieces at National Gallery of Art, and appreciate the history behind Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Step out of the city life by going to Virginia Beach and First Landing State Park. Whalehead Club and Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. Association for Research and Enlightenment will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from Virginia Beach with a short trip to Currituck Banks Reserve in Corolla, about 2h 15 min away. There's much more to do: take a memorable tour with Tours, go for a walk through Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial, take a leisurely stroll along Virginia Beach Boardwalk, and stroll around Neptune's Park.
