Burlington is the most populous city in the U.S. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like D.A.R. State Park and White's Beach. Popular historic sites such as The Long Trail and Smugglers Notch State Park are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Burlington side-trips: Stowe Recreation Path (in Stowe) and Island Craft Shop Cooperative (in North Hero). Get outdoors at Zipline and Franconia Notch State Park. Take a break from Lincoln with a short trip to West Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness, about 42 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take a peaceful walk through White Mountain National Forest, get to know the fascinating history of Flume Gorge, and admire the sheer force of Cascade Falls.

You can drive from Burlington to Lincoln in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car; or take a bus. Traveling from Burlington in August, Lincoln is little chillier at night with lows of 54°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Hartford.

Hartford is the capital of the U.S. Kids will appreciate attractions like Sasko Beach and Long Beach. Get outdoors at The Lodge at Crandall Park and Derby Greenway. Step out of Hartford to go to Madison and see The Shoreline Greenway Trail, which is approximately 52 minutes away. It doesn't end there: stop by Fair Weather Acres.
