The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.

Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Mon): see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at DIPAC's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, and then get outside with Northern Passages and Glacier Bay. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the striking landscape at Mendenhall Glacier, then take in the dramatic natural features at Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Nugget Falls.

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.

For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Family-friendly places like Kayaking & Canoeing and Exit Glacier will thrill your kids. When in Seward, make a side trip to see Harding Ice Field Trail in Kenai Fjords National Park, approximately Kenai Fjords National Park away. Spend the 11th (Sun) exploring nature at Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center. It doesn't end there: observe the fascinating underwater world at Alaska SeaLife Center.
