The Capital of the South

Georgia’s largest city and capital, Atlanta is a thriving metropolis anchored by its southern roots.
Museum-lovers will appreciate National Center for Civil and Human Rights and Booth Western Art Museum. Step out of the city life by going to Stone Mountain Park and Anna Ruby Falls. Change things up with these side-trips from Atlanta: Blue Ridge (Grumpy Old Men Brewing & Mercier Orchards), Amicalola Falls State Park (in Dawsonville) and Sautee Nacoochee (Hardman Farm & VIP Southern Tours). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at World of Coca-Cola, explore the fascinating underground world of Ruby Falls, sample the fine beverages at Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery, and admire the sheer force of Minnehaha Falls.

Columbus to Atlanta is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Atlanta when traveling from Columbus in September, with lows around 67°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
