Perched at the northern end of Washington's Pacific coast, the mid-sized city of Bellingham serves as an important stopover on the road between Seattle and Vancouver.
Family-friendly places like Whatcom Falls Park and Interurban Trail will thrill your kids. Escape the urban bustle at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club and Sehome Hill Arboretum. Change things up with a short trip to Twin Sisters Creamery in Ferndale (about 36 minutes away). There's still lots to do: admire the majestic nature at Birch Bay State Park, tour the pleasant surroundings at Clayton Beach, take a peaceful walk through Stimpson Family Nature Preserve, and explore and take pictures at Chuckanut Drive.

Seattle to Bellingham is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a shuttle; or take a train. Traveling from Seattle in August, things will get a bit cooler in Bellingham: highs are around 75°F and lows about 56°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Wed) early enough to fly to Missoula.

Missoula is a city in the U.S. state of Montana and is the county seat of Missoula County. Bring the kids along to Fishing Charters & Tours and Splash Montana. Visiting Blue Mountain Trailhead (hike & bike) and Boone and Crockett Club will get you outdoors. The adventure continues: admire the majestic nature at Travelers' Rest State Park, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Sentinel, look for gifts at Grizzly Hackle Fly Shop, and tee off at Larchmont Golf Course.
