An old logging town at the crux of the high desert and ponderosa pine forest, Bend melds a love of the outdoors with cosmopolitan flair.

Venture out of the city with trips to Dee Wright Observatory (in Blue River), Sisters (McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass loop, Proxy Falls, &more) and La Pine (La Pine State Park & Lava Cast Forest Trail). There's much more to do: relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, hike along Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint, see the interesting displays at High Desert Museum, and look and learn at Oregon Observatory.
