Wall is a town in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Roberts Prairie Dog Town and Saddle Pass Trail. Get some historical perspective at Cultural Heritage Center and Sage Creek Wilderness Area. Change things up with these side-trips from Wall: Badlands National Park (Cliff Shelf Nature Trailhead, Burns Basin Overlook, & more). You can drive from Wall to Deadwood in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or take a bus. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Wall to Deadwood due to the time zone difference. While traveling from Wall, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Deadwood, ranging from highs of 73°F to lows of 49°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) so you can drive to Custer.

Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
On the 28th (Sat), contemplate the waterfront views at Legion Lake, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Harney Peak, and then do a tasting at Twisted Pine Winery. Here are some ideas for day two: take an in-depth tour of South Dakota State Railroad Museum, then get a new perspective on nature at The Museum @ Black Hills Institute, and then look for gifts at Granite Sports.

Getting from Deadwood to Custer by car takes about 1.5 hours. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time, which is usually a -1 hour difference. In September, daily temperatures in Custer can reach 71°F, while at night they dip to 45°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sun) so you can go by car to Rapid City.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Firehouse Wine Cellars and Cleghorn Springs Hatchery. Escape the urban bustle at Canyon Lake Park and Pactola Lake.
