The Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York Public Library will appeal to museum buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Go for a jaunt from New York City to Poughkeepsie to see Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park about 1h 45 min away.
