Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Point Lobos and Asilomar State Beach. You'll get in some beach time at Carmel River State Beach and Pacific Grove Shoreline Parkway Marine Refuge. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Carmel: Big Sur (Pfeiffer State Beach, McWay Falls, &more).
