Aspen — 1 night

Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Wed): stroll through Grottos Trail and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Crater Lake Trail. Here are some ideas for day two: appreciate the history behind The John Denver Sanctuary, then stroll through Maroon Lake Scenic Trail, and then trek along Rio Grande Trail.

Vail — 2 nights

Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
On the 12th (Fri), head outdoors with Outdoor Activities and then hike along Booth Falls Trail. On the 13th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Walking Mountains Science Center, explore the landscape on two wheels at Vail Recreation Path, and then cast your line with a fishing tour.

You can drive from Aspen to Vail in 2 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Ouray is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Ouray County, Colorado, United States.
