Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
You've added Vail Golf Club, Vail Recreation Path, Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, and other attractions to your itinerary. Escape the urban bustle at Trail Ridge Road and Independence Pass. Take a break from Vail with a short trip to Thermal Spas in Glenwood Springs, about 1h 5 min away.

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
